I’m not going to lie – I cannot commit to home décor or storage. I was unable to pledge my loyalty to any sort of home item that I am around all the time…until now.
My husband and I had a talk (well he talked, I listened) and we (“we”) decided that it was time to run full force towards a life of commitment and start investing in home items that will last for a long time AND hold my attention.
So, rather than running to the store every other week to fill up on items I will lose interest in before I even make it home, I headed to the almighty mecca – Amazon. Which was easy, because I could shop from bed while sipping coffee (or rather, downing so much coffee I start to see sounds).
Anyway, I had to share my favorite items because I have purchased them for myself and/or purchased them for multiple other people to spread the awesomeness time and time again.
I have these baskets EVERYWHERE. They are the perfect size to fit on the shelves in our linen closet, bathroom closet and even on the lowest rung of our nightstands. The grey is dim enough to match everything, but vibrant enough to look great wherever you put it. I also have a set in white!
In addition to coming in every color of the rainbow, these sheets last FOREVER. Literally half the price of any other bed sheets we have tried, and they last twice as long (at least!). We have them in white, green, light grey, dark grey, you get the picture. BONUS: Ever since I was pregnant I would get terrible night sweats – I don’t get them nearly as bad with these sheets.
Anyone else rip up their basement floors to find that their dog has been peeing down there? No? Just us? Cool. Well in any aspect, this gate made me feel less terrible about keeping our doggo upstairs becauuuuuuse…. it has puppy paw prints on it! That’s right, that’s all it took for me to purchase this thing. We even bring it outside when we need to keep MuShu in the yard or on the deck for any reason. He loves it so much he doesn’t even mind being trapped against his will.
(That last part may not be entirely accurate).
Yes, I got way more excited about being able to organize my underwear and socks than any individual human should ever be. But really, it doesn’t even matter now if I “forget” to fold my underwear (BTW – $1,000 to anyone than can successfully fold women’s underwear and not have them come apart the second you try to put them in their little drawer). I can just pop each pair in its little honeycomb home and leave it there until it’s services are requested.
I didn’t think anything of this when I got my standing desk (my back is roughly 60 years older than the rest of my body so I can’t sit OR stand for eight hours straight, I need a nice balance of both) but my mother came through with her motherly knowledge and recommended this mat so I didn’t spend all day standing on a hard basement floor (no longer full of dog pee, BTW) in my stocking feet. LIFE. CHANGED. So, thank my mom for this one. And then thank all the moms because they’re moms and they just know everything.
Not only do these hangers hold on to your clothing better than Rose holding on to Jack (too soon?), it also creates SO MUCH MORE SPACE in your closet. I decided a year ago that it was vital that all our hangers match (a decision fully supported and considered rational by my husband) so I stocked up on these guys and was utterly impressed by all the space that suddenly appeared in our closets.
Ahh yes, the extra hangers – they need love too. If I also dubbed this a life changer, does that officially make me un-cool? That’s fine, I have time on my hands that you have to spend spend looking for a hanger so really, who’s the real winner? (Me).
This thing took one screw to put together and it fits so nicely in our room next to Gregg’s closet. He has extra hangers; I believe in no such thing – empty hanger in my closet? I will just buy it a shirt and then everyone is happy.
I got this for my mom for her birthday exactly one month ago and she has yet to set it up so it does take a little bit of work but the payoff is incredible. Before Gregg added built-in drying racks to our laundry room, we had very little space to hang our clothes to dry. This rack has a spot to hang pants, sweaters, tank tops, bras, hats, you name it. It also doesn’t take up a whole lot of space and is super lightweight (but if you get it as a present for someone, maybe put it together for them).
These serve no purpose other than me wanting to get vases to not put flowers in as part of our living room décor, without having to spend $40.00 per vase. They are beautiful and classic but aren’t a pure white, which matches with the more rustic-y vibe that we have going on in our living room.
I mean, does this even need an explanation? We only spit the truth here, and there is not a better way to introduce people to our home than “dogs welcome (people tolerated)”. You’re welcome for this masterpiece.
I could make a list of a hundred more items that I have purchased and loved from Amazon but I won’t bore you (today).
Let me know if you try any of these items and how you like them – or if you find anything you like BETTER (which I doubt, but I’m open to it).
